Abandoning the Provence I remembered once difficult - although, I'm looking back on our little paradise. In Nyons we saw from the ring road, the parking lot was full. We drove on and came through the Gorge Trente-Pas. From the pass (794 m) we have had a beautiful view of the snowy mountains.

About Bordeaux we arrived at our destination, the City Crest.

The old town of Crest nestles on a mountain. The tower is located on the highest point and is to identify from afar. The pitch is on the banks of the Drome. We started our little trail to the bridge Frederic Mistral, which crosses the river Drome. From the bridge we had a lovely view of the snowy mountains der Rhone-Alpes.

In der Touristinfo versorgten wir uns mit einem Stadtplan. Viele, viele Treppen sind wir bergauf gewandert, bis wir in die Nähe des allüberragenden Turmes kamen. Die Terrassen enthüllten einen außergewöhnlichen Blick auf die ockerfarbenen Dächer der Altstadt. Auf unserem Rundweg kamen wir an einigen Waschhäusern vorbei. Viele Häuser sind hier noch bewohnt.

Kein Auto kann hier hochfahren. Lebensmittel, Gas und Baumaterial müssen hochgeschleppt werden. Als wir die hohen Mauern der Häuser hochblickten, fielen uns die Abflussrohre auf, die von einem Fenster der Wohnung aus mit Schmutzwasser bedient wurden, und vielleicht auch noch werden. The chapel of the Cordeliers lead up 124 steps, of which 95 steps carved into the rock. Therefore, the city takes its name.

Hauterives hat eine Sehenswürdigkeit zu bieten. Es ist der Palast Ideal. Ein Herr „Facteur Cheval" hat als Hobby ein Fantasieschlösschen gebaut – so im Stil der Sacra Familia von Gaudi.

Als wir das Schild am Ortseingang „Facteur Cheval“ lasen, dachten wir, in dem Ort wohnt ein berühmter Pferdezüchter. Weit gefehlt. Der Herr hieß Cheval, also Pferd und war in seinem Berufsleben „Facteur“ – einem Briefträger gleichzusetzen.
