Route: Tomar - Ourem - Leiria - Figuera da Foz

It smells like spring. Along our route, people were busy at the order of their gardens and fields to progress. On the edge the coastal road that leads to Figueras da Foz waiting scantily clad pretty girls on "employment"! We went to the camp of the place again, we already knew from previous visits. In the town has been much modernized, and a lot has changed - only the camp is still on the old stand. He is approached by motor home drivers barely. At the campsite we met Christian from Burghausen, which is a motorcycle road in Portugal. With him, we were talking stimulated. Some tips from our experience we could give him on the trip. He promised to get back to us after his return to Bavaria times.

Today we drove to the parking lot at the harbor. From here you can easily reach the city on foot. This parking lot will give it but might not last long, for the port to the container port to be extended and expanded. In the morning we went to the market hall and have provided us bread and fresh fruit.
The subsequent walk took us into town along the waterfront. Figueras da Foz is situated at the mouth of the Delte Rio Mondego und gilt als gernbesuchtes Seebad, wohl vor allem wegen der weiten Sandstrände in der Mondego-Bucht.

The cheerful, picturesque canals of laced city is the large lagoon, Ria de Aveiro. The unusual facades of the houses in the 19 century by the rich families have been along the "Grand Canal" are built, are reflected in its waters. We navigated the channel with one of the colorful and varied used boats. The boat was originally used to transport salt from the salt flats in the city.
The older part of town lies across the river. The constructed of cast-iron parts market hall of 1904, with its marble stands at the end is an arm of the Canal de São Roque, and presents a fresh offer. The design was by Gustav Eiffel. Nearby can be a beautiful Art deco building admire. Even on Rua J. Mendonca, the row of houses on the canal, the architects have left out in the Art Nouveau style. To the tiles all is well coordinated. Especially the pale pink facade is a masterpiece of its time. A few meters to the road bend calls for art nouveau entrance out to the photo.
On the way back to the channel you pass City Hall and the Igreja da Misericórdia 16th Century.
drove After an extensive tour and we visit a coffee shop to the coast in the south of Aveiro. From Vagueira in the south to the ovary in the north lies a 45 km long and up to 11 km wide branched Lagoon system of the Ria de Aveiro parallel to the coast. Typical of Costa Nova, the "colorful striped" houses.

is thus ended the Portugal tour - too bad. What's next on the return trip follows soon.
